Songs of Last Week 7

This week (or a couple weeks ago, I am a bit behind with these posts) I listened to some modern progressive rock. This isn’t a new genre for me, rather a genre that I had strayed slightly away from in the past year.

The songs I listened to are Noseblunt by Waxamilion, Farewell by Syncatto, and Pan by Plini. Now admittedly non of these songs are particularly musically complicated, but they are extremely technical. Each of these songs treads the line between showing off and songwriting, leaning more towards the songwriting side.

The musical simplicity is not actually a shortcoming of these pieces, but a feature. It makes this type of music much more easily digestible, and for me acted as a gateway into more experimental types of music. Still there is a whole lot of things one can do with basic musical principals, and all these songs impress creatively in their rhythm and form.
