Audio sampling has been around since the 70s, where DJs would use turntables to mix audio from different records. Modern sampling uses digital audio workplaces to incorporation samples in a song.
A sample is often thought to be an piece of a different song incorporated in a different way. It is also the art of recording and modulating one’s own sounds; a sample is just a short audio clip modulated to fit the context of a particular production.
One of the most impressive DJ feats I have seen is Down the Road by C2C, an amazing song that uses samples from. Eddie Cusic’s “You Don’t Have to Go”. Watching C2C’s live performance is amazing, seeing all four members busy managing their own roles in this song’s analog production.
